The Shape of the Web
Taking the format of an 81 country ranking, the Web Index is the world’s first measure of the World Wide Web’s contribution to development and human rights globally. Scores are given in the areas of access; freedom and openness; relevant content; and empowerment. Created for a Visualising.org's challenge, this graphic represents each country with a unique symbol, composed of the scores received in these 4 areas, GDP per capita and the percentage of the population using the Internet, providing a snapshot of the overall impact of the World Wide Web.
